On Tuesday, July 2, 2022, the annual meeting of cultural coaches of the Iranian National Paralympic Committee was held in in the headquarters of the Committee, in the presence of Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.
In a speech at this meeting, while expressing his satisfaction for meeting the coaches and athletes, Ayatollah Ramazani stated, “You have a good opportunity to connect with a huge range of people active in the field of sports.”
“Professional ethics is an important subject that requires a lot of attention. Sports ethics is a special field of ethics, the importance of which is completely clear,” he stated.
“In Western countries, ethics means mostly its behavioral aspect, and they define it based on benefit or contract. While we believe that ethics is rooted in inherent virtue and includes individual, social and divine spheres. Ethics is not defined only in interaction with others, but includes more areas,” stated the member of the Assembly of Leadership Experts, expressing that ethics is a very important and profound issue.
Referring to the book “Towards a Global Ethic: An Initial Declaration” by Swiss theologian and author Hans Küng, Ayatollah Ramazani, said, “He believes that in order to achieve a common moral system among different religions and cultures, we should address minimum issues of the ethics that all human societies accept. According to him, on this basis, different religions and cultures can be brought together and have peaceful interaction and coexistence.”
“For the development of ethics in various social and international spheres, we should consider its measures and requirements. Relying on ethics can be a necessary step in realization of the just peace,” he added.
“National teams that participate in international arenas must observe ethical principles. It is necessary for Iranian sports teams to respect ethics more. Because Iran is the base of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) school, which is founded on rationality and ethics,” continued the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.
“From a religious point of view, education is a sacred matter, and we can say that the most important attribute of the divine prophets is “teacher”. If the education is in the direction of felicity, it will lead the society towards felicity, but if it is deviant and towards misguidance, the society will also go towards misguidance,” Ayatollah Ramazani emphasized.
“Coach is an important title and position that requires a specialized consideration today as there are important educational fields and research areas in this field. The coach must be a role model, and an important condition for being a role model is that he acts on the words he tells others,” he added.
“We should seriously consider general or specialized sports in our lifestyle. Exercise and general sport are necessary. According to the advice of the Supreme Leader, students should be diligent in education, self-improvement, and sports,” added the representative of the people of Gilan in the Assembly of Leadership Experts, stressing the sports in lifestyle.
“There is an interwoven relationship between human body and soul so that Avicenna, Aristotle, and other philosophers commented about it. Exercise and sports bring vitality. Allameh Hassanzadeh Amoli, as a man who was an expert in various fields of studies, raised many discussions about the relationship between the soul and the body and emphasized that in order to continue the common life of the body and the soul, one should pay attention to the growth and perfection of both,” said the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.
“Athletes need to be familiar with the concept of good and felicitous life,” Ayatollah Ramazani stated, “If we are asked about the meaning of life or felicity, we often think we know the answer well. But understanding these issues needs more studies and meticulousness. We should know what the position of man is and how can we provide a comprehensive definition regarding human felicity that includes all aspects of human life and not only the material and worldly aspect.”
“Society needs vitality, hope and correct understanding of life with hope and peace, and sports has a great contribution in these matters,” he emphasized.
Referring to the hadith of Imam (a.s.) “خَيْرُ اَلْأُمَرَاءِ مَنْ كَانَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ أَمِيرا” (The best of ruler is the one who rules over his own soul) he said, “If we fail to manage ourselves, we cannot succeed wherever we assign to coach. In order to achieve peace, man must communicate with a reality superior to man, that is, God. Human life will not be peaceful without belief in God.”
