After enduring six years of brutal imprisonment, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, an oppressed Nigerian cleric, was released.
He and his wife, Mrs. Zinat Ibrahim, were released today, Wednesday, July 28, 2021, and went to their son’s house in the city of Kaduna.
Today, a Nigerian court has acquitted Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, and his wife from all charges.
The ruling on the release of Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife had already been issued by a court, but the Nigerian government and military refused to comply.
So far, the Nigerian government has blocked Zakzaky’s release under various excuses and has not even allowed him access to medical care.
In recent months, as Zakzaky’s health condition worsened, human rights groups have repeatedly called for the release of Nigeria's Shiite leader.
