With the slogan “With Books We Are Healthy”, the 33rd Tehran International Book Fair, with the presence of 2800 publishers from Iran and other countries, welcomes visitors from 11 to 21 May 2022, 10:00 to 20:00.
At the 33rd Tehran International Book Fair, the publications of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly have exhibited its latest products in various languages in two booths (the General Publishers Hall, Corridor 22, Booth 2 and the International Hall, Corridor 2, Booth 62).
Seayed Mojtaba Tafreshi, the head of the booth of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, stated, “Due to the activity of the virtual sector and the allocation of tokens for virtual sales, this year’s Book Fair was less welcomed than previous years.”
“In this period of the Tehran Intl. Book Fair, Quran, Nahj al-Balaghah and Sahifa Sajjadiyya printed in Beirut, has faced the most demand and sales,” he added.
“Books such as A’lam al-Hedayah, Kashf al-Ghommah, Fazael al-Khamsah, Tazkerat al-Khawas, Alfayn and Waqqa al-Taf are among the books in demand, but we have run out of these books,” added the member of the Cultural Cooperation Office of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.
“Expensive books are one of the problems that make people purchase less books,” Tafreshi considered.
“My suggestion is to distribute the tokens purposefully. If the tokens are allocated to the religious, literary, Quranic, and academic sections separately, I think the book fair will be more welcomed. Because a person who has a token to buy a book and is interested in buying a religious and academic book, does not know which one to choose,” he said in a proposal.
Also, Mr. Qassem Kushkbaghi, the head of the international booth of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said, “This year, the book fair has not been very well received, as well as the purchase of books. In the exits of the exhibition, you can see that out of twenty visitors, maybe not even one of them has a book with him but has just come to visit.”
“This year, it would be great if we had a booth in the Arabic section. Because the Assembly has published many books in Arabic. But I do not know why we did not have a booth in the Arabic section. It was also convenient to have a business card and a brochure to introduce the World Assembly and its publications,” he said about the booths of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.
Regarding the location of the Tehran International Book Fair, the head of the International Booth of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said, “Tehran Mosalla is good in terms of facilities and access. But the traffic around this place is frustrating. The Shahr-e Aftab Complex has been basically set up to hold an exhibition, and there is a subway to access it. It would have been much better if the exhibition had been held there. Mosalla is a sacred place for worship.”
It is worth mentioning that on Tuesday evening, May 10, 2022, in Imam Khomeini Mosalla of Tehran, the 33rd International Book Fair was opened in a ceremony attended by the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the Lebanese Interior Minister, Iran’s cultural trustees and publishers from 30 countries.
