During the Student Day ceremony at AhlulBayt (a.s.) International University, while congratulating the students and professors of the university on this day, Hojat al-Islam Dr. Saeed Jazari stated, “In the holy system of the Islamic Republic of Iran this day is dedicated to students and such interpretations are observed in many countries. This day is celebrated as student day, youth day, knowledge day or learning day.”
“We are proud to have grown up in a school that is undeniable in today's modern world as a school of science. Because non-Muslim scholars accepted that the foundation of the holy book of Islam, which is the Holy Quran and was given to human beings by the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h), is full of scientific principles and incitement towards science and knowledge.”
““يَرْفَعِ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ دَرَجَاتٍ ۚ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ” (will raise in rank those of you who have faith and those who have been given knowledge, and Allah is well aware of what you do,) (Holy Quran, Surah: Al-Mujadila, Verse: 11)” pointing to the verse of Quran, the President of AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said, “This noble verse is one of the Muhkam (decisive) verses of the Quran and all Muslim Mufassir, from various denominations, acknowledge this matter. This verse is sufficient for the legitimacy of Islam.”
“We are the only religious thought in the world of religions that with the emergence of our religious thought (Islam), its movement, presence, emergence and enlightenment reflected in the world. Because when we compare the Arabian Peninsula before and after Islam, we see that Islam has relied on the field and the axis of science as a basic pillar for the spiritual and material growth of society,” he mentioned.
“There are many verses in the Holy Quran that when God introduces a prophet, he puts it in front of human beings with weapons and tools of knowledge, and where He wants to start the Revelation, he says to the Prophet, “Read”, means that God emphasizes science, knowledge and scientific understanding, “Jazari said, “This science and knowledge is the first axis of the movement of a religious community.”
“According to the hadiths, one who walks in the path of science enjoys the glorification, sanctification, and prayer of angels, and according to a hadith from Imam Baqer (a.s.), “Whoever leaves home with the intention of learning (knowledge), is subject to the special prayers of angels”,” he stated.
“We are proud that the great scholars of Islam, unlike many religious schools outside of Islam and the heavenly religions, were proud to build the Dar al-Elm (House of Knowledge). When we look at the history of Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc., which have embraced Islam as a group of Mesopotamians, we see the Nezamieh schools of Neyshabur and Baghdad. Nezamieh school belongs to the third century AH, i.e., the year 290 AH onwards. When we mention Nezamieh, not only hadith was taught there, but also philosophy, mathematics, al-Jafr, etc. were considered there,” continued the President of AhlulBayt (a.s.) International University.
“A student or one who seeks knowledge is at a point where the angels pray for him from the moment he enters the place of learning, until the moment he leaves the place,” he stated, “Imam Sadeq (a.s.) was asked, “The days of the holy month of Ramadan and Qadr Nights are ahead. You, as our Imam, tell us what we should do on these nights that has a high reward?” Contrary to some people’s belief that the answer to this question may be recourse, night prayer and putting the Quran on the head, Imam Sadeq (a.s.) answered, “Negotiation of knowledge”. That is, at a critical time when prayer is answered, people should seek knowledge.”
“Today, scientific diplomacy has a special place, and it is important to know which country is more successful in the field of science. Also today, the production, promotion and teaching of science, the establishment of scientific centers and the training of researchers is an important competition in the world,” Jazari added, considering the issue of science as the subject of today’s competition between the countries of the world.
“We should be proud that the lands that today has become Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc., have once been the birthplace of the important scientific schools,” he clarified.
Each of the cities of Khwarazm, Bukhara, Samarkand, Herat, Rey, etc. in encyclopedias such as “Britannica” represents prominent scholar figures in the world and these cities should not be recognized only as a religious place,” the President of AhlulBayt (a.s.) International University said, “Islam has many prominent figures: from Ibn Sina in the field of mathematics to Farabi in the field of intellectual issues. There is even a scientist named Abu al-Faraj in the field of music. This means that we were able to make progress in these areas. We hope that the blessings of these holy days will succeed in propagating science in this land.”
