The “6th Conference of Imam Ali” on the subject of the lifestyle of “Amir al-Mu'minin Ali ibn Abi Talib (a.s.)” was held online in Italy.
Held on Saturday evening, February 20, 2021, and organized by “Islamic Confederation of Italian Shiites”, the representatives of the different religious groups expressed their views on the great character of Imam Ali (a.s.).
This year, the special guest of Conference of Imam Ali (a.s.) was the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, Ayatollah “Reza Ramazani”, who delivered his speech at the beginning of the conference.
“Imam Ali (a.s.) was a comprehensive figure. In other words, he can be introduced as the educational miracle of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h),” he stated, referring to the need to pay attention to the lifestyle of Imam Ali (a.s.).
“The Holy Quran is an example of a verbal miracle, and a comprehensive personality, and a perfect Muslim, that is, Imam Ali (a.s.), is the educational miracle of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h). There are many examples of the practical miracle of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) that have been mentioned in various books, including the Holy Quran,” added the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, stating that the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) had verbal, practical, and educational miracles.
“Great poets wanted to praise the great character of Hazrat Amir (a.s.), but as the Prophet (p.b.u.h) said, the virtues and perfections of Imam Ali (a.s.) cannot be counted. One of the poets whose praiseful poems we should pay attention to is Sheikh Safi al-Din Hilli. Many attributes and characteristics of Imam Ali (a.s.) are mentioned in the poems of Sheikh Safi al-Din Hilli. In the words of this student of Allameh Hilli, Imam Ali (a.s.) had comprehensive attributes in ethics and is a person of worship, mysticism, and battlefield. Such a personality, is a role model for all human beings,” added Ayatollah Ramazani.
“Throughout history, it is rare for the most devout person to become the most warrior person. But all these attributes are gathered in Imam Ali (a.s.) and he is comprehensive of the attributes of opposites,” added the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.
“While Imam Ali (a.s.) was the ruler, his asceticism and piety were also in the highest rank and degree,” he clarified, stating that Imam Ali (a.s.) is a person who is both ascetic and a ruler.
“Imam Ali (a.s.) was both a kind spouse and a caring father in the family. Relying on the highest degree of faith, he was chosen as the successor of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h),” emphasized Ayatollah Ramazani, pointing out that Imam Ali (a.s.) had a pious lifestyle and this faith appeared in all areas of his life.
“Imam Ali (a.s.) was the first person to become a Muslim. He paid close attention to worship,” added the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, stating that there was a faithful view in all aspects of the life of Imam Ali (a.s.) that should be known.
‘In asceticism and piety, Imam Ali (a.s.) was not dependent on anyone (and anything) except the right, and he was not happy in gaining worldly affairs, and losing everything,” he mentioned.
“Imam Ali (AS) suffered a lot for development (of the society). However, when he built an aqueduct, he endowed it, and whenever he built a garden, he sold it and donated it to the poor. Imam Ali (a.s.) had all the attributes of perfection and his life in the fields of justice, politics, etc. was based on faith,” said Ayatollah Ramazani.
“Many people have written books about Imam Ali (a.s.) but in practice and behavior, they are far from him,” stated Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, stating that everyone should try to make their behavior similar to the behavior of Imam Ali (a.s.).
“The society of Imam Ali (a.s.) is a society based on values and the development of communication that is in the path of human life, progress, excellence, and evolution and grows individually and socially,” he said, recognizing the concern of Imam Ali (a.s.), the transformation of human society into a divine, humanly and value-oriented society.
“Human beings must be rational and work together to provide a platform for perfection,” noted Ayatollah Ramazani, pointing out that, according to Imam Ali (a.s.), individual and social rationality should exist in all dimensions and that the rationality should grow in society.
“Many efforts must be made for a society to be value-oriented, rational, progressive and on the path to excellence, and for the life of that society to be a life of faith, based on true human faith and beliefs,” stated the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, referring to a Hadith of Imam Ali (a.s.).
“We should make our life as similar as possible to the life of the AhlulBayt (a.s.). We can never behave like Imam Ali (a.s.) in food and clothing. But in the path of imitating him, the least that is necessary is to avoid extravagance and luxury. Those who, like Muawiya, ate luxurious food and had luxury in all dimension of their lives, their path is far from that of the Imams (a.s.),” he emphasized, stating that we can never live in all things or details like Imam Ali (a.s.).
“We must take care of ourselves in piety and not walk in the path of sin,” Ayatollah Ramazani said, pointing out that we should all help society to recognize its responsibilities individually and socially.
“The path of a society that seeks progress should not be the path of sin, but the path of obedience to divine command so that man does not deviate from the path of truth,” added the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.
“The individual and the society that wants to grow must use their will seriously and not be disappointed,” he added.
“The people of the society must be firm and strong and do their duty properly and concerning all aspects. This is the meaning of wisdom. The quality of work and attention to work in our society must increase. Working is the essence of man and the cause of his perfection,” stated Ayatollah Ramazani, pointing out that pure thinking, chastity, and living pure, is necessary for society to be on the path of mental health.
“Any person who approaches the advice of Imam Ali (a.s.) according to his capacity can be effective (in society),” stated Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.
“In the field of fiduciary duty, especially in the case of officials, more care should be taken. Because if this is neglected, there will be irreparable damage to the revolution and the (Islamic) system (of Iran),” he added, pointing out that human beings should strive as if they are always alive and as ready as if they will die tomorrow.
“Khalgh (خَلق) means a creation that is not optional for us, such as physical structure, body, face, race and gender; and Kholgh (خُلق) means the creation of internal traits and moral matters such as piety, chastity, ijtihad, perseverance, etc. The Islamic lifestyle has much in common with the issue of morality, and morality is something that is made by human beings,” Ayatollah Ramazani emphasized, referring to the differences between Khalgh (appearance creation) and Kholgh (manners).
“Examining the lifestyle centered on the lives of Imam Ali (a.s.) and the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h), with webinars, conferences, etc., is an admirable action and deserves appreciation,” stated the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, pointing out that knowing the lifestyle of Imam Ali (a.s.) provides the basis for Islamic civilization for human societies.
