All Shiites and many people of the world are familiar with the Arbaeen Great Walk towards the city of Karbala on the Arbaeen anniversary of Imam Hussain (a.s.). But perhaps many have no knowledge about walking towards Najaf at the end of the Hijri month of Safar (on the anniversary of the Prophet’s demise and Imam Reza’s martyrdom).
According to an old tradition, on the anniversary of the passing away of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h), the people of Iraq go to Najaf to express their condolences to Imam Ali (a.s.), the successor and son-in-law of the Prophet.
On this occasion, people dress the cities of Najaf and Kufa in black and set up numerous Mowkebs to welcome the mourning pilgrims of Imam Ali (a.s.).
Hence, scenes similar to the scenes that were seen on the roads to Karbala during the Arbaeen ceremony, can be seen on the roads leading to Najaf, and men and women, old and young, with flags on their shoulders, are walking on this path for the love of visiting the soul of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) (Imam Ali).
Since this ceremony has not been well known among the people of Iran, for the first time in 2015 AhlulBayt (a.s.) News Agency - ABNA exclusively covered the news of these rituals related to AhlulBayt (a.s.), and after that, this news and photo coverage has been continued to familiarize people with it.
Also, this year, for the consecutive year, by dispatching reporters and photographers for this event, ABNA News Agency exclusively covers the news, images and reports of Imam Ali (a.s.) pilgrimage day.
