Issuing a statement, Ayatollah Hadavi Tehrani condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden by anti-Islamists.
The text of this statement is as follows:
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
And they say, ‘No one will enter paradise except one who is a Jew or Christian.’ Those are their [false] hopes! Say, ‘Produce your evidence, should you be truthful.’ (2:111)
More than fourteen centuries ago, the Holy Qur'an invited Jews and Christians to present reasoning andit also introduced rational dialogue as a method of evaluating religions.
But it is surprising that in the age of science and technology, and in a land that introduces itself as a flagship of intellectuality, the Holy Qur'an, the latest version of divine guidance, is insulted by a few ignorant young people and the police who must keep the law and social order supports them with more ignorance.
This heartbreaking tragedy is a living irony of the ultimate darkness in the West and a clear evidencefor the legitimacy and rational ability of Islam and the Holy Qur'an over other religious schools.
We should feel sorry for such leaders whose signs of ignorance in their past and present lives have surprised everyone because they happily dance in ignorance while consider themselves supporters of freedom, and countless curses on the leaders of some Islamic countries who join this evil circle and in the meantime seek to strengthen their relations with the enemies of Islam, careless to the fact that they're flogging the dead horse and are just consolidating their place in the Hell.
But there is no doubt that these childish behaviors have no effect other than furthering Islam and strengthening the Muslims' belief. However, this does not alleviate the responsibility of the Islamic countries, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran, in dealing with such ignorant acts as firmly as possible. It is the heavy duty of all faith and religions' scholars, to prevent these childish behaviors and to thwart the plots of arrogant anti-religionsin order to provide an environmentfor rational dialogue among all faith believers of the world and to replace peace and security with war and bloodshed.
