The Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated, “Seeking justice and fighting against oppression are teachings of the school of Imam Hussain (a.s.) for the scientific and religious elites. Society elites must have scientific, realistic, and compassionate demands.”

In the webinar “Ashura and life teachings for the elites” held by the Elites Foundation of Gilan Province, while offering his condolences on the mourning days for Imam Hussain (a.s.), Ayatollah Reza Ramazani said, “Different dimensions of Ashura Event have always been studied including ethical, mystical, philosophical, jurisprudential, political and social dimensions. But the more Ashura is analyzed, the more accurate and new aspects for studies arise.”

“Many things have been said about why and how the Ashura Event occurred. However, we insist that the contents should be stated according to the documented and authentic history in this regard. That is, the material must be narrated from correct and comprehensive sources, and from authentic historical books. We need to make serious efforts to conduct comparative studies. Ashura is considered as both a sensory and intellectual miracle. The sensory miracle means that this event leads us to truths superior to material things. Ashura is also an intellectual miracle, which means that its investigation leads to the confrontation of wisdom and ignorance,” stated the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“In addition to the influential role of guidance in human societies, religious and scientific elites play a significant role in the scientific movement and progress of the contemporary world towards Islamic civilization. In some scientific fields, Islamic Iran is among the top 5 to 10 countries in the world. For those who can be influential somewhere, being elite is a blessing. While being elite and influential in society, the elites are obliged to adhere to the principles. These principles can be learned from Ashura school and movement,” he said, referring to the duties of the elites of the society.

“Believing, seeking, and telling the truth are the principles that we should learn from Imam Hussain’s (a.s.) school. Our direction and demands in the society should be based on the right and seeking for it. Religious and scientific figures and elites should not allow the facilities to be used against human interests. According to the characteristics of the ideal and Islamic civilization, mankind should be able to reach a utopia that has comprehensive virtues. Religion brings man from the material realm to the scientific, intellectual, and intuitive realm, and transforms him into a scholar, wise, pious, and faithful person with a pious life,” Ayatollah Ramazani noted.

“As another teaching of the Ashura Event, elites should oppose the tyranny and not submit to it. Society and rulers should not use elites to consolidate or gain wealth. According to the Ashura Movement, it is our duty to stand against the tyranny. Tyranny caused the Ashura Event and the spearing of Imam Hussain’s head. The elites of the society must oppose tyranny. They must have endurance and stability and prevent their positions to be abused,” clarified the representative of the people of Gilan in the Assembly of Leadership Experts.

“Elites also should learn from Ashura Event to have dignity, accept dignity, and have honor. To have dignity means to have the spirit of nobility and magnanimity. It means that a person with dignity does not accept darkness, humiliation, discrimination, and injustice. Accordingly, all members of the society, especially the elite, need to have the spirit of nobility. At different levels, elites should play the educational and training role,” Ayatollah Ramazani added.

“Jihad and hard work are another lesson from Imam Hussain (a.s.) for the elites. To achieve prosperity and felicity, the society must have jihadi management (here, jihadi means voluntary and hardworking). All religious and scientific elites in their activity field should take steps towards the growth of human and Islamic society. It is not possible to look for a progressive society without having a scientific system and unity of scientific and religious elites. Seeking justice and confronting tyranny are principles of the other lesson of the Imam Hussain (a.s.) school for elites, and one of the strategies mentioned in the Statement of the Second Phase of the Revolution. A person who wants to be the leader of the society must be committed to justice. Because justice can prosper the society,” said the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“Today, the young generation has hope in the scientific elites. Different sciences can bring mankind to God, and the study of any scientific field, including medicine, leads man to a wise, omniscient, and omnipotent creator, God. Elites must take a stand against any oppression. They should also work for the realization of justice and demands. To achieve justice, it is necessary to define a vision document in the political, economic and cultural sectors, and elites can help in this regard. One of the important duties of elites is to make scientific, realistic, and compassionate demands. They should also be diligent in the process of reforming the society and do not hesitate in this regard,” he clarified.

“Another teaching of Ashura and Imam Hussain (a.s.) to the elites is the principle of freedom and liberty. Elites should not be dependent on any and natural or legal party, but should follow science for thought, thinking and development of society. They should try to guide the young generation to the scientific field, so that later they will also become one of the elites of the society. The religious elites of the society need to have a correct understanding of Islam, and introduce it correctly, and teach it as a standard religion,” Ayatollah Ramazani said.

“Humbleness is one of the necessary characteristics for the elite of the society. By following the example of Imam Hussain (a.s.), the elites are expected to be humble and modest. Modesty towards the divine teachings, Almighty God, and the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) can be seen throughout the life of Imam Hussain (a.s.). The elites should be humble before the religion and consider themselves as its protectors and border guards and consider this characteristic as a part of their personality. Elites also play an important role in solving problems and managing Gilan province. They should be present in various fields and criticize the performances in a scholarly way. Today, to solve the problems of different sectors, the scientific elites of the society must play active role. Great things require awareness before action, and elites can help with that as well,” said the member of the Assembly of Leadership Experts.

“The Islamic Revolution of Iran was a great historical turning point in the world. While many argued that world revolutions are secular, the only religious revolution that was based on values was the Iranian Islamic Revolution. For the efficiency and stabilization of the Islamic Revolution, we need efficient forces in various fields. Every university professor and scientific and religious elite can be influential in reaching Islamic civilization and realizing the strategies of the Statement of the Second Phase of the Islamic Revolution. To reach Islamic civilization, we need to stabilize foundations such as Tawhid (monotheism), justice, dialogue, tolerance, unity, jihad (volunteer work), public effort and diligence, collective wisdom, and religious and wise social life,” he noted.

“Elites need to redefine the most important tasks assigned to them. We have to offer thoughts and ideas to the statesmen regarding solving the problems. We should also help in appointing efficient, pious, and expert personnel. Elites must have a physical presence in different arenas. With this presence, they can be effective in solving problems,” Ayatollah Ramazani stated.

“Today, the enemy, with media plots seeks to ignore the achievements of the Islamic Revolution. The students need to be enlightened about the scientific and military achievements by the elites of the society. Iran’s sitting at the negotiating table with the world’s powerful parties shows the authority of the Islamic Revolution,” noted the representative of the people of Gilan in the Assembly of Leadership Experts.

“The enemy seeks to create a gap between the people, officials and elites. At this historical turning point, the more we fulfill our duties, and the society benefits from the efficiency of the elites, the more authority and security will increase in different sectors of the country. Abandoning responsibility is not allowed and we all should take perform our duties and preserve Islamic Iran as the miracle of the century,” said the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly in the end.
