During their visit to Lebanon, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly and the accompanying delegation visited the historic Baalbek Fortress. The ancient fortress in the east of Lebanon, located in the Beqaa Valley, is one of the rarest historical monuments in the world. The fortress was actually a city with Phoenician historical roots that found an important place during the Roman rule and became a place of worship for the ancient Roman goddesses. Remains of the three temples of Jupiter, Venus and Bacchus surviving from the first century AD, form the collection of antiquities of the castle of Baalbek. During the 250 years of construction of these multiple temples, and the transfer of huge stones from several hundred kilometers to Baalbek, tens of thousands of oppressed slaves were killed.
