Shojai Rad’s report on unique book “Montaqela al-Talebia”

41st pre-conference of the International Conference “Hazrat Abu Talib, Supporter of the Great Prophet (p.b.u.h)” was held on Saturday morning March 6, 2021, virtually and in-person in Qom. The session was organized by Zorria al-Nabawia Research Institute and “Research Institute on Proximity” of “The World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought” and was held in the form of Webinar “The role of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) and the Talebian from the point of view of Allameh Sayed Mohammad Mahdi Kharsan”.

As the fourth speaker of the session, Hojat al-Islam Amrullah Shojai Rad the researcher of Zoria al-Nabawia Research institute explained about the book “Montaqela al-Talebia”.

“This precious book is one of the basic books of genealogy,” he continued, “Hazrat Abu Talib (AS) was a believer in Quraysh who, like the companions of the cave, concealed his faith. In difficult circumstances, before the conquest of Mecca, and early in the call of Islam, which was a fundamental danger, he came to the aid of Islam and brought his family along the way. Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) and his family are among the role models and they had a great role in supporting the Prophet (p.b.u.h). Hazrat Fatemeh bint Asad (a.s.), the wife of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), was like a mother to the Prophet (p.b.u.h) and the Prophet cried when this noble lady was buried. Jafar, the son of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), was also a great martyr.”

“Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) was one of the figures who took important actions in difficult conditions and the role of self-sacrifice of him was extended to his children. Few families like the family of Abu Talib (a.s.) have sacrificed so many martyrs in the uprising of Karbala, the battle of Fakh, and the prison of Hashemia. The Talebian were in conflict with the governments of the time, and this led to their widespread emigration to all parts of the world and the transmission of Islam and Shiism to various countries around the world. The great migrations of Talebi Sadat caused them to make history and civilization. They traveled to various countries, including Iran, the Indian subcontinent, Turkey, Central Asia and Levant, Egypt, Morocco, Andalusia and France. The book “Montaqela al-Talebia” has monitored this migration movement,” stated Shojai Rad, Recognizing Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) as a model for resistance.

“There are about a thousand books on genealogy. But the difference between the book "“Montaqela al-Talebia” and other books of genealogy is that in the books of genealogy, Sadat’s genealogies are usually mentioned and no attention is paid to their place of residence. However, the structure of the book “Montaqela al-Talebia” is based on place and mentions the names of different regions and places to which Talebi Sadat migrated. The book “Montaqela al-Talebia” combines the science of geography with the knowledge of genealogy, and the book is a kind of historical-geographical atlas of genealogy, and is very distinguished in this respect. After “Abu Ismail Ibrahim Ibn Nasser Ibn Tabataba” in writing “Montaqela al-Talebia”, no one did anything in this regard. His work was an initiative. “Abu Ismail Ibrahim Ibn Nasser Ibn Tabataba” is one of Hassani Sadat, whose lineage reaches Imam Hassan (a.s.) through 14 intermediaries. Not much information is available about this poet and genealogist. He was a contemporary of Sheikh Tusi. “Abu Ismail Ibrahim bin Nasser bin Tabataba” lived in Isfahan and he and his family were among Sadat Talebi. He was a Zaidi Shiite. At that time, many Shiites in Iran were Zaidis,” he added.

“Allameh Kharsan’s knowledge position is clear from his works. He did well in every field of research he entered. He is one of the great scholars of Najaf seminary, successful scholars and prominent genealogists who is skilled in conducting research work and has written 12 works in the field of genealogy,” Shojai Rad stated, referring to the characteristics of Allameh Kharsan.

“Mohammad Reza Rezai” has translated the book “Montaqela al-Talebia” well. Research in this book should be based on older versions. It also seems necessary to write a new version of “Montaqela al-Talebia”. This book was written in the fifth century AH, and now, in the 15th century AH, we need Sadat’s geographical atlas to know where they are located. Research on Sadat should also be based on ancient sources, including the role of Talebi Sadat in various countries, including Egypt, the Indian subcontinent, and Iran,” he mentioned.

It should be mentioned that by the initiation of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, and support and cooperation of the similar institutions, including, “Imam Hossein (a.s.) Holy Shrine”, “Hazrat Aboutaleb Research and Publishing Institute”, “The World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought”, “Islamic Sciences and Culture Academy of Islamic Propagation Office”, “Al-Mustafa International University”, “Hawza Language teaching center”, “International University of AhlulBayt (a.s.)”, “Mirath-e Nabowat Cultural Institute”, “Jamiat al-Zahra Seminary University”, “Zorria al-Nabawia Research Center”, “Qasem ibn al-Hassan (a.s.)
