The Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated that the true mission of the media is to convey reality, not to be driven by Machiavellian aims. While the West exploits cyberspace to expand its power, he emphasized, Muslims must approach it with a humanitarian and truth-based perspective.
The third International Conference of “AhlulBayt (a.s.) Media Narrators” commenced Thursday morning, May 1, 2025, in Qom, coinciding with the Ten Days of Dignity (from the first day of Dhu al-Qadah marked as Lady Masoumeh’s (a.s.) birth anniversary, to Dhu al-Qadah 11, coinciding with Imam Reza’s (a.s.) birth anniversary). The event was held at the conference hall of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, with the participation of media professionals and intellectuals from Iran and several African countries. It has been organized by the AhlulBayt (a.s.) International News Agency (ABNA).
In this conference, Ayatollah Reza Ramezani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly offered congratulations on the occasion of the blessed Ten Days of Dignity and stated, “This event can serve as an opportunity for humanity to become acquainted with the true essence of dignity. Dignity and justice are among the affirmative principles of Islam.”
He also expressed his gratitude to the organizers of this session, particularly ABNA News Agency, which arranged the event, and added, “Media narrators of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) possess exceptional capacities, and the first step must be to recognize and become familiar with these capacities. I request Dr. Aghamiri and his colleagues at the National Center for Cyberspace to work on identifying these capacities, as this recognition and introduction will pave the way for cooperation.”
The Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly further emphasized, “These capacities are a blessing of the miracle of the Quran, that is, the Islamic Revolution of Iran, which transformed the world. The Islamic Revolution of Iran positioned Islam as a principal pillar standing against the global system of domination. The most important feature of this Revolution is its AhlulBayt (a.s.)-based discourse. We believe that the discourse of the Islamic Revolution is a reflection of the discourse of the AhlulBayt (a.s.). If this discourse is properly understood and introduced to today’s global society, we will witness its increasing receptivity. Of course, it must be accurately explained.”
He continued, “We are witnessing a human awakening. Just as Muslims awakened and became familiar with their duties, today we are observing a global human awakening. The events in Gaza have caused the discourse of resistance to transcend borders, and even people in Europe and America are now reacting to these developments.”
Further in his speech, Ayatollah Ramezani referred to cyberspace and its impact, saying, “Much has been said in these sessions about cyberspace and its effects. Although this is not my field of expertise, based on my studies and numerous meetings with experts, it can be said that cyberspace can be managed in various domains, including religion. However, it must be acknowledged that at times this space can present reality in a distorted manner and portray falsehoods as truths. For example, the Arbaeen pilgrimage is a massive event that is not conveyed accurately. Yet, if a few individuals in Europe insult our beliefs, the entire world becomes aware of it.”
The Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly continued, “The duty of the media, in the fullest sense of the word, is to convey reality. We must not look at media and cyberspace through a Machiavellian lens. While the West exploits cyberspace to expand its power, our approach must be humanistic and grounded in truth.”
Ayatollah Ramezani went on to say, “Today, jihad in the realm of media and cyberspace is no less significant than jihad in the physical world. All those present here are working in a spirit of jihad, and we hope to witness positive developments through the efforts of the media narrators in their respective countries. We are rich in content, and this richness must be effectively showcased in cyberspace.”
Concluding his remarks, the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated, “In the field of artificial intelligence as well, we must reach the level of content production that we require. There is no content in the world as profound as the content rooted in the AhlulBayt (a.s.) teachings. If we present this content in attractive and impactful formats in cyberspace, we can achieve victory in this arena. Given the characteristics of Islamic civilization, we can become the pioneers of intellectual discourse on the global stage. To this end, institutions like the National Center for Cyberspace must take greater steps in laying the groundwork for presenting religious and Islamic content in elegant and appealing formats. We need to present Islam comprehensively and accurately, not the distorted version of Islam introduced in the West. The Islam of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) is vastly different from the versions of Islam portrayed in the West. In the West, some are working to eliminate and assimilate Islam into Western culture, but we must present Islam in its entirety and authenticity.”
