In his message on the occasion of the death of Ayatollah Ashtiani, Ayatollah Ramazani expressed, “I would like to offer my condolences on the demise of that servicing and devoted scholar to the seminaries, the respected members of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom, the deceased’s family, and especially to the noble people of Qom and Ashtian.”

The message is as follows:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم

إنّا للّه و إنّا إلیه راجعون

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

“Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him do we indeed return” (Holy Quran 2:156)

The passing away of the ascetic and pious scholar Ayatollah Haj Sheikh Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, may God have mercy on him, caused great regret.

That honorable man always spent his blessed life in scientific and religious activities, and in addition, he held various responsibilities, such as the vice president of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom, a member of the board of writers of “Tafsir Nemooneh”, representing the people of Qom in the Islamic Consultative Assembly.

I would like to offer my condolences on the demise of that servicing and devoted scholar to the seminaries, the respected members of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom, the deceased’s family, and especially to the noble people of Qom and Ashtian. I also ask the Almighty God for mercy, forgiveness, and divine satisfaction for the deceased, as well as patience and reward for his bereaved family and enthusiasts.

It is worth mentioning that Ayatollah Mohammadreza Ashtiani, the former representative of the people of Qom in the seventh, eighth, and ninth terms of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Iran’s Parliament), and a member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the age of 83.

In addition to his political and revolutionary responsibilities, the deceased was one of the professors at the highest levels of the Qom seminary, and one of the board of writers of “Tafsir Nemooneh of the Holy Quran” which was written under the guidance of Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi.

He was also the vice president of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom for several years, and before that, he was the president of Payame Noor University of Qom province.
