The second meeting of the Digital Library Committee of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly was held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, from 13:30 to 17:30 in the building of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, and these figures were the participants of the meeting: Hojat al-Islam Ahmadi Tabar, the deputy for Science and Cultural Affairs, and Hojat al-Islam Al-Ayub, Director General of Cultural Services and Publications of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, Dr. Sayed Mahdi Taheri, Director of the Central Library and Documentation Center of Allameh Tabatabai University and honorary member of the Digital Library Committee of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, Mr. Ismail Rahnavard, Director of Ayatollah Boroujerdi Library and member of the Digital Library Committee of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, Mr. Hassan Rajabian, Secretary of MAKTA (Qom Province Specialized Libraries Association), Engineer Fatemi and Engineer Kiani from “Yekom Soft” Company, and the managers and experts of the libraries of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, the library of Ayatollah Boroujerdi, the library of the Holy Shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (a.s.), and the library of the Institute of Islamic Ethics and Education.
At the beginning of the meeting, Faryar Fatemi, CEO of Yekom Soft Company, reported on his activities over the past years, and explained his scientific background and executive experience.
Introducing Yekom Soft, he said, “Several services have been created by this company and it has had successes in the field of artificial intelligence, including suggestion systems and a speech engine for the production of audio books.”
Following the meeting, in the field of technical explanations of the software, Davood Kiani, technical manager of Yekom Soft Company, introduced the software “LIBRA”.
Kiani said in introducing the software, “This product is able to manage libraries and document centers in a comprehensive context, according to modern standards. Multilingualism is a feature that has been considered throughout the software. It can also contain metadata in multiple languages. In this software, modules for organizing information and knowledge, documentation, publicly accessible list, access level management and management of content objects (physical and digital) are developed and ready for use. Modules for information provision and document delivery, periodicals, circulation management and resource honesty, bibliographic discovery (information gateway) will also be operational in the near future. One of the unique features of this software is the ability to support all types of information resources. In the documentation module, the types of relation can be defined according to the framework that applies to the system.”
Following the meeting, a demo prepared for the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly was displayed. In the explanation of the demo, it was stated that the general idea that has been considered for the design of the demo is to create a simple and modern user interface page that can be managed and changed by the system administrator. In this page, the user interface with a large search box, it is possible to define the most visited books, new publications, suggested and occasional books, and the defining banners and various thematic categories based on the needs of the collection. In the search results section, the results are displayed in order of priority and relevance, respectively, and the display of search results can be categorized based on various criteria, including specific topic, specific publisher, and so on.
While appreciating the “Yekom Software” company for its attention to the implementation of modern world standards, Dr. Sayed Mehdi Taheri, Head of the Central Library of Allameh Tabatabai University, and honorary member of the Digital Library Committee of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, called for evaluation of the software by experts of Information Science and librarians in libraries and information centers.
He also stressed the flexibility of software in responding to native features and different library needs.
While thanking the efforts made in this field, Hojat al-Islam Ahmadi Tabar, deputy for Scientific and Cultural Affairs of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly referred to the digital library of the Assembly and said, “The objective of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly is to be the reference for the message of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) at the international level, and the Assembly’s Digital Library is one of the ways to achieve this objective.” He also called for the continuation of these meetings, in order to complete the software and eliminate possible shortcomings.
At the end of the meeting, some questions of managers and experts about the performance of this software in various topics were answered, on the topics such as: software search capabilities, the possibility of using this software platform in museums, log management in software, required server specifications, user interface, arrangement of search filters, etc., and suggested to the Yekom Soft Company to improve the software.
The Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly is an international non-governmental organization (INGO) that was established by a group of Shiite elites under the supervision of the great Islamic authority of the Shiites in 1990 to identify, organize, educate and support the followers of Ahl al-Bayt.
