We must replace Yazidi thought with Hussain’s: Ayatollah Ramazani

In a meeting with a group of Pakistani intellectuals, the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said, “The Ashura uprising was the continuation of Ghadir, as Ghadir is considered as the continuation to the mission of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h). In other words, Ghadir was the same as Ashura during the time of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h), and Ashura became Ghadir during the time of Imam Hussain (a.s.).”

ABWA Official Website – On Thursday morning, July 13, 2023, a group of Pakistani teachers and intellectuals met with Ayatollah Ramazani, the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

While welcoming the guests, considering that his visit to Pakistan coincided with the ten days of Wilayah, Ayatollah Ramazani made some points about the important event of Ghadir and said, “Ghadir presented us with a new interpretation after the demise of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h). All the attributes of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h), except receiving revelation, are shared with Imam Ali (a.s.). If Ghadir did not happen, the whole content of Islam would change. As the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) predicted, there will come a time when Islam will be overturned like a vessel, and nothing will remain of Islam except its name, and of the Quran except its writings.”

Regarding Ghadir’s two important teachings, he said, “First of all, the best people should be appointed in every job, whether it is the imam of the congregation, whether it is the mayor, the governor, or any other official. Therefore, God chose the best person to succeed the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h), who was the closest person to him. None of the Companions, except Imam Ali (a.s.) claimed to be infallible and the most knowledgeable. Where Imam Ali (a.s.) said, “I know the ways of skies better than the ways of the earth”. The second teaching is the necessity of people’s presence in crucial events. Within three days, many men and women went to Imam Ali (a.s.) and pledged allegiance to him.”

While referring to the position of Imam Ali (a.s.) among Sunni ulama, the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated, “In his book Tafsir Kabir, which is one of the important Sunni books, under the interpretation of Ayat al-Kursi, Fakhr Razi says, “Whoever considers Ali as his Imam, is definitely holding a firm grip on his religion and soul”. Also, in a tafsir on the Hadith “عَلِی مَعَ الحَقِّ وَالحَقُّ مَعَ عَلِی، یدورُ مَعَهُ حَیثُما دارَ”, Ibn Abi'l-Hadid Mu'tazili, one of the Sunni elders, says “Wherever Ali (a.s.) is, the truth is there.” While others all say that wherever there is truth, there is also Ali (a.s.).”

Regarding the importance of events and developments in the Islamic world, Ayatollah Ramazani said, “The uprising of Ashura was the continuation of Ghadir, as Ghadir is considered as the continuation to the mission of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h). In other words, Ghadir was the same as Ashura during the time of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h), and Ashura became Ghadir during the time of Imam Hussain (a.s.). It was because of many deviations created in society that Imam Hussain (a.s.) said, “I have prepared myself to become a martyr in the way of preserving the religion (Islam) so that it remains and continues.” Imam Hussain (a.s.) is a universal figure and is not exclusive to Shiites. He is a role model for all Muslims, followers of religions, and people. Because it advises people that “if you don’t have religion and don’t believe in the afterlife, at least be free and live freely”.”

“During Muharram, Imam Hussain (a.s.) should be properly introduced. Regarding Ashura, we have said a lot about the ‘how’, but not about the ‘why’. For example, we have talked about the loneliness and captivity of AhlulBayt (a.s.), which is valuable, but the reason for it has not been discussed. In this regard, we must consider three issues. First, ulama and missionaries should use correct and authentic narrations. The second stage is the analysis of the Ashura event. We need to think about what caused that within 50 years after the demise of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h), first the silent Quran, and then the speaking Quran were speared. Matching the events of Ashura with the events of the present time is the third issue that should be considered. How Yazidi thought can be replaced with Hussaini’s? An important task for teachers and ulama,” he added.

While referring to his recent visit to Pakistan, the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said, “In Pakistan and during my visit to the cities of Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, I felt like I was in my homeland. Because Pakistan is a Muslim country, and its people are lovers of AhlulBayt (a.s.).”

At the end of his speech, he wished success and health to the Pakistani teachers and intellectuals present at the meeting and expressed appreciation for their attendance in the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.
