Taliban security forces incapable curbing terrorist attacks: Afghanistan AhlulBayt (a.s.) Assembly

In a statement, the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Lovers Assembly of Afghanistan denounced the terrorist suicide attack on a Shiite Mosque in the southern city of Kandahar.

In the statement, the Assembly noted, “Recent events have shown that Taliban security forces are incapable of curbing terrorist attacks. Therefore, it is necessary to ask for help from the people, especially those in charge of holding these ceremonies.”

“There are specific motivations behind the terrorist groups’ attacks on Shiite religious ceremonies,” added the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Assembly of Afghanistan.

This statement is as follows:

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

“And why should ye not fight in the cause of Allah and of those who, being weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)? - Men, women, and children, whose cry is: “Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from Thee one who will protect; and raise for us from Thee one who will help”!” (Quran, Surah: An-Nisa, Verse: 75)

We offer our condolences to the families and relatives of the martyrs, the faithful people of Kandahar, the people of Afghanistan and the Muslim Ummah, on today’s tragic, horrific, and shocking suicide attack at the Fatemieh Mosque in Kandahar which targeted worshippers of Friday prayers and God’s servants.

Since the new system came to power, there have been several terrorist attacks in different parts of the country, challenging the security measures of security forces.

Today’s terrorist attack on the Fatemieh Mosque in Kandahar, in which more than 100 people were martyred and wounded, is the second suicide attack on Shiite worshipers and reflects the specific direction of the new insecurities.

Following last week’s suicide attack on the Sayed Abad Grand Mosque in Kunduz, which killed and injured hundreds of worshipers, (Taliban’s) government security forces promised to take serious measures to ensure the safety of citizens, curb such attacks, and try the perpetrators of the attack a Sharia court. But just a week later, we saw a similar terrorist attack in Kandahar today.

Recent events have shown that Taliban security forces are incapable of curbing terrorist attacks. Therefore, it is necessary to ask for help from the people, especially those in charge of holding these ceremonies. The experience of cooperation and joint measures of the security forces and the board of trustees of the mosques and Tekias (Tekie a place for worshipping) has been a successful experience in securing these centers, and it is necessary to use that experience.

Noting that there are specific motivations behind terrorist groups’ attacks on Shiite religious ceremonies, the AhlulBayt (a.s.) Lovers Assembly calls on the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the International Community, and charity organizations, to protect these centers and take care of the families of those injured in the incidents.
