Attending the University of Religions and Denominations, a group of Nepali Sunni scholars met with Hojat al-Islam Sayed Abulhassan Navab, President of the University, and the Secretary of the Supreme Council of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

In this meeting, stressing the need for Islamic unity, the president of the University of Religions and Denominations said, “The proximity of Islamic denominations, and the preservation of unity among the Islamic Ummah, have been one of the goals of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, and one of the ideals of Imam Khomeini and the Supreme Leader.”

Hojat al-Islam Sayed Abolhassan Navab continued to say, “The ulama of Islam have always played an outstanding role in raising public awareness, and all anti-colonial and change seeking movements have succeeded and perfected with the support of ulama.”

“Today, by supporting takfiri ideologies and groups the enemy seeks to incite Islamophobia, and by highlighting some trivial issues, it seeks to divide Muslims. On the other hand, Shiite and Sunni ulama must play their historical role in thwarting these conspiracies by displaying the merciful feature of Islam,” added the Secretary of the Supreme Council of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“Together, by exchanging views and opinions, Shiite and Sunni ulama must work to reduce human suffering and bring peace to world, and seek to spread unity,” the seminary and university professor stated.

“Through tolerance and dialogue, as well as authentic understanding of the potential of Islam and Islamic teachings, we must offer appropriate solutions, and seek to solve the problems and eliminating difficulties of the Islamic world,” emphasized the President of the University of Religions and Denominations.

Following the meeting, Dr. Abbas Khamehyar, Deputy for Social and Cultural Affairs of the University of Religions and Denominations, presented a report on the university’s scientific and cultural activities to Nepali Sunni ulama.

Also in the meeting, while expressing their pleasure of the presence at the University of Religions and Denominations, the Nepali Sunni ulama announced their readiness to cooperate more with this university.

Nepali Sunni ulama also visited the library of the University to learn about the works published by the university.

It should be mentioned that the visit was attended by Mufti Mohammad Abu Bakr Siddiqui Ghasemi Head of Dar Al-Ifta, Manager of Crescent Identification Bureau and Judge of the City, Mohammad Mansour Mufti and Friday prayer leader of the Katmandu, the Nepali capital, and head of the Nepali Ulama Association, Qari Mohammad Salman Ghaffari activist in Quranic fields, and Mr. Bashiruddin one of the ulama of the mountainous region of Nepal and the director of two seminary schools in Nepal.

The Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly  is an international non-governmental organization (INGO) that was established by a group of Shiite elites under the supervision of the great Islamic authority of the Shiites in 1990 to identify, organize, educate and support the followers of Ahl al-Bayt.
