Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated, “Imam Hussain (a.s.) preserved Islam, and the survival of Islam owes to his struggle and martyrdom. Imam Hussain’s (a.s.) martyrdom paved the way for awakening and removing the ignorance of the people.”

ABWA Official Website – On Tuesday evening, July 25, 2023, during the mourning ceremony on the 8th night of Muharram in Mahdiyeh, Rasht, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani said, “Throughout history, some people have always had a negative encounter with Islam. They have been trying to confront all of God’s prophets and martyr them. Divine prophets were against human slavery. Religion is a matter of Fitrah (human’s divine nature), and the prophets did not impose it on mankind.”

“Throughout history, tyrants and oppressors have sought to enslave humans,” he added, “and unfortunately, despite seeing the miracles of the prophets, some stood against them.”

“Between the 17th and 20th centuries, religion was considered a superstition. Also, during the time of Imam Hussain (a.s.), some people had confrontations against Islam on their agenda. Yazid sought to erase Islam and Islamic Sharia,” Ayatollah Ramazani noted.

“During the time of Imam Hussain (a.s.), some people sought to erase the name of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) and Islam. Imam Hussain (a.s.) preserved Islam, and the survival of Islam owes to his struggle and martyrdom,” added the Secretary General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

Further in his speech, referring to the two factors that led to the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (a.s.), he said, “The first factor was the lack of emergence of the truth of Islam in the society, and the second factor was the lack of religious and political maturity of the people so that there was no trace of the truth of Islam in their lives.”

“The destruction of religion (Islam) was originally planned by the Umayyads,” Ayatollah Ramazani said, “Imam Hussain’s (a.s.) martyrdom led to the establishment of protest movements in the society, such as the uprising of Mukhtar.”

“At the end of Imam Sadiq’s (a.s.) period, he, and other Immaculate Imams (a.s.) had been treated the worst. The Umayyads and the Abbasids ruled in the name of Islam, but they tried to destroy its divine decrees,” he stated.

“During the time of Imam Hussain (a.s.), unfortunately, the general public did not know about him, and this was one of the reasons for the martyrdom of the third Imam of the Shiites,” emphasized the representative of the people of Gilan in the Assembly of Leadership Experts.

“Global arrogance opposes the religion that stands against oppression and domination,” he stated, “Imam Hussain’s (a.s.) martyrdom paved the way for awakening and removing the ignorance of the people. If people had political maturity during Imam Hussain’s (a.s.) time, he would not have been martyred.”

At the end of his speech, while emphasizing the need to expand the truth and Resistance Front, he said, “Today also, if Muslims have religious and political understanding and maturity, global arrogance cannot coerce them.”
