Abu Talib (a.s.), strongest figure of Quraysh who defended Prophet (p.b.u.h): Shahidi

On the third day of the International Conference “Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), the Supporter of the Great Prophet (p.b.u.h)”, the specialized session of “Abu Talib (a.s.) from the Perspective of International Scholars” was held on Thursday morning, March 11, 2021, at Imam Khomeini School in Qom.

Referring to the characteristics of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), Hojat al-Islam Mohammad Amin Shahidi, Secretary-General of the “Ummah Waheda” party of Pakistan stated in this meeting, “He is one of the most brilliant, bright and radiant figures who shines like the sun. Because he did a lot of services to the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) and Islam.”

“Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) was the strongest figure of Quraysh who defended Prophet (p.b.u.h) and remained steadfast in this path until the last day of his life. The Infallible Imams (a.s.) introduced the brilliant personality of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.); the figure who defends Islam, the man of God, and the believer of the Quraysh, and a person who defended the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) as the Prophet of God, throughout his life he,” he continued.

“Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) is a mystical figure who was born in a monotheist (Mowahed) family. He is the son of Hazrat Abd al-Muttalib (a.s.) who was also a man of God. When the time came for the death of Hazrat Abd al-Muttalib (a.s.), he entrusted the care of Hazrat Muhammad (p.b.u.h) to Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.),” Shahidi added.

“Ummah Waheda” Party of Pakistan stated, “Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) stood up against people like Abu Jahl and Abu Lahab, and sacrificed his life for all the dangers that were facing the Prophet (p.b.u.h). But he did not allow anyone to harm the Prophet (p.b.u.h). The self-sacrifice of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) caused the Prophet (p.b.u.h) to always take refuge in his uncle Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), a figure who was a monotheist, a god-worshiper and a believer in the Hereafter,” stated the Secretary-General of the “Ummah Waheda” Party of Pakistan, referring to the defense of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) from the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h).

“The year that Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) passed away was a sad year for the Prophet (p.b.u.h). So, he called it the “Aam al-Huzn” (the Year of Sorrow). The Prophet’s interest in Abu Talib (a.s.) was not only because Abu Talib was his uncle. Rather, Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) was the custodian of Hazrat Muhammad (p.b.u.h), and in this regard, by the command of God the Prophet (p.b.u.h) loved him, and this love and affection arose from the sacrifice and devotion of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) for the publication of Tawhid,” he continued.

“When the Islamic government fell to the Umayyads, they wanted to take revenge on Imam Ali (a.s.) for each of their relatives who were killed. Therefore, they went so far as to excommunicate (Takfir) Imam Ali (a.s.) and attribute many lies to him and spread these lies among the people. The revenge of the Umayyads was not only on Imam Ali (a.s.). Rather, anyone related to him was targeted by the Umayyads. Therefore, they tried to excommunicate Abu Talib (a.s.), Imam Ali’s father too. As a result, they spread these false hadiths in the Islamic society (Slander of infidelity to Abu Talib). When we examine these hadiths, we find that their narrators are false and unreliable,” Shahidi added.

“Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) is a figure that we should study different aspects of his life. We must also introduce his faith, which is as clear as water, to the world. In the (Indian) subcontinent, Abu Talib (a.s.) is considered sacred and respected by Shiites and many Sunnis. Also, many Sunni scholars in the subcontinent have written books about the faith of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.). But these efforts are not enough, and we must extract the various dimensions of the services and sacrifices of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) from history and introduce them to the world,” said the Secretary-General of the “Ummah Waheda” party of Pakistan, referring to the need to study the personality of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.).
