Moral vices tarnish light of human nature: Ayatollah Ramazani

In the 28th episode of the special internet program “Facing the Sky”, which is broadcast on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, pointing out that Ramadan is an opportunity for cultivating the soul and psyche of human beings, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani Gilani stated, “If the opportunity of this holy month is used well, it will be effective in softening the human soul.”

“Man must ask God Almighty for the success of infallibility and purity,” added the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, expressing “We ask God Almighty to cover us in His infinite mercy.”

“Slander and other moral vices darken the human heart and essence and stain the light of human Fitra,” he clarified, pointing out that in different interpretations, the darkness of slander is mentioned.

“Vices hinder man's understanding and awareness of divine knowledge,” Ayatollah Ramazani clarified.

“Chastity, courage, wisdom, trustworthiness, honesty, and truthfulness are among the virtues and we must institutionalize them in ourselves,” noted the representative of the people of Gilan in the Assembly of Experts, pointing out that believing people are greedy for virtues.

“Believers hate vices such as lying, betrayal, swearing, etc., and man must prevent them from being institutionalized in his soul,” he added.

“If there are virtues including trustworthiness, responsibility, and service in a society, that society will definitely develops,” added Ayatollah Ramazani, emphasizing that a society that turns to vices does not develop.

“Some people are only Muslims verbally, while we have to implement the truth of Islam in our life,” said the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, stating that human beings should show virtues in their behavior.

“Islamic behavior in individuals causes the general public to turn to Islam. This also causes the society to grow spiritually and psychologically and to move towards perfection, progress, and excellence,” he mentioned.

“On the other hand, those who have only an Islamic name and consider themselves Muslims but do not have Islamic behavior cause others to distance themselves from Islam, and this has negative social effects,” Ayatollah Ramazani reminded.

“Vices suppress human nature and prevent human spiritual growth,” said the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, emphasizing that slander and other moral vices tarnish the light of human nature.

“According to the Quranic verses, this act is an obvious slander and sin, and the one who committed, must bear the burden of it and be accountable to God,” he added, referring to the fate of those who offend believing men and women without committing a sin.

“Whoever commits a mistake and accuses an innocent person of that mistake, bears the burden of slander and an obvious sin,” clarified Ayatollah Ramazani, saying that several hadiths have been narrated about the slander.

“We must try to get rid of these kinds of moral vices,” added the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, emphasizing that according to hadiths, the sin of slandering an innocent person is greater than skies.

“According to the hadiths, a person who backbite others, his prayers and fasts will not be accepted for forty days,” he said, pointing out that those who pray but slander others do not get rewards for their worship.

“One who has moral vices loses the reward of his prayer and fasting,” said Ayatollah Ramazani, pointing out that piety keeps one away from moral vices.

“We must correct our behavior in individual and social issues and introduce Islam with our behavior,” emphasized the representative of the people of Gilan in the Assembly of Experts, stating that narcissistic people who express their good deeds everywhere do not get rewards.

“We must know the scientific and practical life of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h), and adapt our behavior to the Quranic verses, the hadiths of the infallible Imams (a.s.), and their life,” he added.

“Asceticism based on Sharia is that when a person does not say untrue things, does not gossip, does not slander and does not fall into the evil path,” emphasized Ayatollah Ramazani, referring to the concept of asceticism based on Sharia.

“Man can eliminate the moral vices he has acquired during his life,” pointed out the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, stating that man did not have any moral vices at the time of creation.

“Man can eliminate his moral vices with the will and power that God has given him,” he concluded, emphasizing that jihad against carnal desires can eliminate moral vices.
