The interview with Hojat al-Islam Sayed Muhammad Reza Al-e Ayyub is as follows:

ABNA: First, please explain about the qualities and characteristics of Lady Fatimah Zahra (a.s.).

First of all, I would like to express my condolences to Imam Mahdi (a.s.), the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, and all the enthusiasts of that noble lady, on the arrival of the martyrdom of the lady of two worlds, Lady Fatimah Zahra (a.s.).

In many verses of the Holy Quran, the family of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) has been mentioned. Lady Fatimah (a.s.) is one of them. For instance, in the Verse of Purification, after the Prophet of Islam (p.b.u.h), Lady Zahra (a.s.) is central. Also, in the Verse of Mubahlah, the Prophet (p.b.u.h) takes her with him. In verse 8 of Surah Al-Insan “وَيُطْعِمُونَ الطَّعَامَ عَلَى حُبِّهِ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا” (who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive), a clear example of this verse and the situation of its revelation is Lady Fatimah (a.s.). Therefore, the Quranic verses abundantly refer to the status of this noble lady.

There are many hadiths of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) and AhlulBayt (a.s.) that the Prophet (p.b.u.h) calls her “Umm Abiha” (the mother of her father). Or he mentions about her with expressions such as “the life in my body” and “part of my body”. These expressions are to define the important position of Lady Zahra (a.s.). Therefore, we should not underestimate this character. Because this precious lady, although she had a short life, had many blessings. In this limited opportunity, she was able to become a role model for people who seek to imbue themselves with the AhlulBayt (a.s.) teachings.

Therefore, her life should be divided into two stages: first, from the birth to the demise of her father, the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h); The period related to her personal life and companionship with the Prophet (p.b.u.h); And the second part is related to her political and social life, which began after the demise of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h).

In the study of the first stage of the life of Lady Zahra (a.s.), the details of her life should be examined. Normally every individual has duties towards his or her parents, and Lady Fatimah (a.s.) performed these duties beautifully, and was present with her honorable father in different situations, such as living in Mecca or the Abi Talib Valley. It is during this incident that she was nicknamed “Umm Abiha” (the mother of her father).

Lady Zahra’s motherly behavior was very pleasing to the Prophet (p.b.u.h). The Prophet never wanted to take away the feeling of being a daughter from her. Despite the emphasis of Surah Noor, verse 63 - “لَا تَجْعَلُوا دُعَاءَ الرَّسُولِ بَيْنَكُمْ كَدُعَاءِ بَعْضِكُمْ بَعْضًا” (Do not make the calling of the Messenger among yourselves like your calling to one another) - on avoiding calling the Prophet (p.b.u.h) by common titles among people, the Prophet told his daughter Zahra (a.s.) to address the him as “father”. These are the beauties of the life of that noble one that should be properly studied, and that pure light should be properly introduced as a role model.

ABNA: What characteristics of Lady Fatimah (a.s.) can be a role model for us in our personal lives?

Lady Zahra (a.s.) was a role model even in her married life. She entered the house of Imam Ali (a.s.) at a young age. Although short, they had a sweet life. In this regard Imam Ali (a.s.) said, “Throughout our lives, Fatima and I never angered each other. She never asked me for more.” Such a life is an example of a shared relationship founded on mutual respect and interwoven with love for God.

Also, in such a married life, which is based on fairness and love, division of work was also done at home, and Imam Ali (a.s.), in spite of his many preoccupations outside the house, he also helped his wife Lady Fatimah (a.s.) in the housework. This is one of the signs of love in such a life. God, in addition to exempting woman from military jihad, has introduced taking care of husband and raising children as jihad for women. Lady Zahra (a.s.) is a perfect role model in this regard as well.

The kindness of Lady Fatimah Zahra (a.s.) in taking care and treating her children is also evident. So that when addressing her children, she used the kindest words. This shows her warm life with his children. Her worship was another dimension of that noble lady’s life. Regarding her worship, Imam Hassan (a.s.) said, “I have never seen a more pious person in the world than my mother. She worshiped so much that her feet would swell.”

The mentioned cases show that she dedicated her whole life to God. In this regard, the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) said, “Belief in God has permeated the soul of Zahra (a.s.) so much that she frees herself from everything to worship God.” We should model this lifestyle and implement it in our lives as much as we can.

ABNA: What measures did Lady Zahra (a.s.) take to defend Imamate and Wilayat?

The second stage, which is the most difficult part of Lady Fatimah Zahra’s life, begins after the demise of her father, the Prophet (p.b.u.h), during which tragic events occur.

Her position in this situation is wise, decisive and forward-looking. If she did not have such an attitude, there would be no trace of Islam left. Therefore, her political life began here. Because Imamate is one of the important and decisive matters. Unfortunately, bitter events occurred during that period, and she stood up to defend the position of Imamate and Wilayat.

Imam’s position is divine, and no one has the right to choose for that position. But some people degraded the status of the successor of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) and made it selective. Therefore, Lady Zahra (a.s.) did not remain silent against this dangerous move and the change of the divine tradition and stood up to her death to defend it.

In the sermon she gave to the women of Medina, Lady Fatimah Zahra (a.s.) said, “وَیْحَهُمْ اَنّى زَعْزَعُوها عَنْ رَواسِی الرِّسالَةِ وَ قَواعِدِ النُّبُوَّةِ وَ الدَّلالَةِ، وَ مَهْبِطِ الرُّوحِ الاَمِینَ وَ المطّلعِینِ بِاُمُورِ الدُّنْیا وَ الدِّینِ” (Woe to them! How did they deprive the caliphate from the strong mountains of the Mission, the solid foundations of prophethood and leadership, the place of Revelation and the Trustworthy Gabriel, and those who are knowledgeable in the affairs of the world and religion?)

This move and her defense was so significant that if it did not happen, there would nothing left of Islam and its values. She stood up and defended the sanctity of Imamate.

The second move of Lady Fatimah Zahra (a.s.) was to prevent the change of divine decrees. Some claimed, “We heard from the Prophet (p.b.u.h) that he said, ‘We (Prophet and AhlulBayt) do not leave anything as an inheritance, and our property will be charity’!” In response, the lady replied, “Is it mentioned in God’s book (Quran) that you will inherit from your fathers, and I will not inherit from my father?! It is stated in the Quran that Prophet David inherited from his father Prophet Solomon! You intend to distort religion.” Therefore, Lady Zahra (a.s.) did not allow divine decrees to be misused for political purposes.

Her third move was to introduce the Imam and the position of Imamate. Lady Fatimah Zahra (a.s.) introduced Imamate as a center for empathy, convergence, and unity. In a sermon, she says, “و جعل طاعتنا نظاماً للملة و امامتنا امانا من الفرقه” (God has made obedience to us an order and discipline for the religion of Islam, and our imamate as a refuge from division and disagreement.) Therefore, this lady introduced Imam and his position in her sermons. Considering the short period of time from the Ghadir Event to those tragic events (the martyrdom of Lady Zahra), she constantly warned people about their forgetfulness (bout the position of the Imam and the orders of the Prophet).

She recognized the roots of corruption and its consequences in her sermons. She also explained about the causes of people’s misguidance, “Be aware of who is ruling you, worthy or unworthy people?”

In her short life, she participated in the Great Jihad (fighting internal interests). It can be said that she was the flag bearer of the Enlightenment Jihad. Her insightful moves made the subsequent seditions less effective, and made people aware of the issues that happened around them.

Therefore, we should pay attention to the messages of Lady Zahra (a.s.). We should introduce the lifestyle of that lady to people, and we must bring felicity in this world and the hereafter for ourselves. Fatemi life means peace and felicity, and following that lady is a guarantee of felicity. As in a hadith, it has been announced that God will save Lady Zahra (a.s.) and her followers from the fire of hell.

ABNA: Thank you for giving us the opportunity to have this interview.
