On the occasion of the demise of the divine scholar, the preacher of the teachings of the Quran and AhlulBayt (a.s.) in East Africa, and Kenyan member of the General Assembly of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, Sheikh Abdillahi Nasir Juma, a commemoration was held online and in person on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, from 19:00 Tehran time at conference Hall of AhlulBayt (a.s.).

In this ceremony, while condoling the demise of Sheikh Abdillahi Nasir to all students, enthusiasts, and the honorable family and his children, on the role of scholars in the religious education of society, the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said, “Scholars are literally the heirs of the divine prophets.

“Just as the prophets were true teachers and educators, the real scholars have an educational role and are teachers and instructors and play a key role in acquainting human beings with the teachings of truth,” Ayatollah Reza Ramazani added.

“Religiosity requires knowledge of religion. When we know and believe in religion, we will bound to the teachings of revelation, so knowledge of religion is very important. These are the scholars who have the duty of guiding the society; the same task that the divine prophets had and showed the way,” he emphasized.

“Man, as a seeker and creature who pursues virtue, must enjoy a set of capacities to achieve the transcendent goal, which is nearness to God. In African countries, including Kenya, there is a willingness for people to turn to their Fitra. Because the divine teachings are based on Fitra and in accordance with the real needs and tendencies of human beings. Religious scholars should make the most of these innate tendencies,” added the professor of the highest levels of the seminary of Qom, considering the blessings of intellect and Fitra as great blessings of God to human beings.

“According to the Quranic verses, God has inspired all good and evil in man,” he added, “Revelatory teachings conform to the rules of reason and Fitra, and there is no law in Islam that is contrary to reason and Fitra. Today, there is the best opportunity to use the Fitra of human beings to teach the rational and revelatory teachings, which are in accordance with Fitra. The real addressee of religion is intellect, and it makes no difference to the Fitra of the present and the future.”

“The late Allameh Tabatabai said, ‘There are 300 verses about thinking, reasoning, and contemplation in the Quran’. The teachings of justice, benevolence, worship, etc., in Quran, which develop human communication with others, all deal with Fitra,” Ayatollah Ramazani continued.

Regarding the characteristics of Sheikh Abdillahi Nasir, he said, “In all 90 years of his blessed life, that great scholar tried to pursue the truth in all fields. During his studies, the deceased was an excellent student and because of his good moral character, he also attracted his professors.”

“After getting acquainted with the divine teachings, Sheikh Abdillahi Nasir preached the divine teachings and had an eloquent, attractive and effective expression. In addition to propagation, he also taught, and had useful writings. More than 1,500 cassette tapes and more than 400 videotapes are left from his Maaref classes,” added the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“Sheikh Abdillahi Nasir’s speeches were welcomed in different cities of Africa,” he added, “It is very valuable that the discussions of the deceased are welcomed. He is one of the examples of this Quranic verse, ‘إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ سَيَجْعَلُ لَهُمُ الرَّحْمَٰنُ وُدًّا’ (On those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, will (Allah) Most Gracious bestow love) (Holy Quran, Surah: Maryam, Verse: 96)”

“Perseverance was another characteristic of Sheikh Abdillahi Nasir,” Ayatollah Ramazani said, “He was very hardworking, and he persevered in achieving his goals. He never neglected things, and to get to the truth, he did whatever it took.”

“Sincerity was another characteristic of Sheikh Abdillahi Nasir. Sincerity works everywhere. According to a hadith, ‘Sincerity is a secret of God, and God bestows it on the servants who love Him’. The deceased was sincere. That’s why his words were influential everywhere,” he continued.

“He had the language of truth, and the ‘truth’ is influential in the field of propagation. He was very concerned about the propagation of the school of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) and tried to make people familiar with the virtues of the words of the AhlulBayt (a.s.). Because if people know the merits of the words of the AhlulBayt (a.s.), they will follow it,” added the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, expressing other characteristics of Sheikh Abdillahi Nasir.

“All these features caused Sheikh Abdullahi Nasser to move in the right direction until the end of his life. It was God’s providence that his preaching was effective. He was popular among the people and people loved him. Sincerity, concern, attractive propagation, teaching, writing, etc. made him play his role of education in the best way,” he added.

“We and his students must strive to learn sincerity, and to make this school continue. Given the capacity that exists in Kenya in terms of Fitra and intellect, it is the duty of his students to follow this path, to persevere, and to do their best to propagate the teachings of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) like him, to be familiar with the people, and to acquaint the people with the virtues of the words of the AhlulBayt (a.s.), and Also, according to the order of the Prophet (p.b.u.h), to acquaint people with the Quran and AhlulBayt (a.s.),” Ayatollah Ramazani said in the end.
