Followers of Imam Ali (a.s.) responsible, trustworthy: Ayatollah Ramazani

On the evening of Saturday, April 23, 2021, at a ceremony held on the 40th day of the demise of Hojat al-Islam Ismail Seddiqi, the former Friday Imam of the cities of Soomehsara and Kalachai, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani said, “Today, Ali (a.s.) can be known from the behavior and actions of the followers of that Imam.”

Pointing out that Shiites who are moral, polite, and have rationality and spirituality, can introduce Imam Ali (a.s.), the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly added, “One who does not help the deprived, is not moral and responsible, cannot introduce himself as a follower of Imam Ali (a.s.).”

“If a person does not have morality, responsibility, and trustworthiness, what is left of him as a follower of Imam Ali (a.s.)?” he mentioned.

“It is very difficult to become a Shiite of Imam Ali (a.s.). Just claiming to be a Shiite is not enough,” Ayatollah Ramazani clarified, “The followers of Imam Ali (a.s.) are known for their effort, diligence, piety, and steadfastness in the path of truth.”

“Before the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the Friday prayers was very limited and was not organized in a coherent manner. One of the important achievements of the Islamic Revolution has been Friday prayers so that the clergy had the opportunity to be present in the social arena and provide religious services,” he added.

“In the Pahlavi era, there was no mechanism for the presence of clerics in mosques, and on the occasions of Muharram, Safar, or Ramadan, the board of trustees of each mosque would invite a cleric to the mosque with the connections they had,” Ayatollah Ramazani clarified.

“Before the Islamic Revolution, there was a minimalist view of religion. The important question is whether the clergy and the religion itself came just to invite to pray and fast? That is, there should be no reaction to social issues?” added the representative of the people of Gilan in the Assembly of Experts.

“Some argue that religion has no rules in the social sphere, and that a cleric should only speak about praying, worshipping and the rules of the Sharia, and not be present in social issues and problems,” he stated.

“In many verses and hadiths, social issues are mentioned. The fact that Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) formed the government, waged jihad and defended Muslims against tyranny and oppression, clarify that Islam is concerned with social issues,” Ayatollah Ramazani pointed out.

“About 400 verses in the Holy Quran are related to jihad and resistance. The Holy Quran refers to community, and social and congregational issues such as congregational prayers, Fridays, Hajj, etc. Many of the rules of Islam are related to the punishment of criminals, which cannot be fulfilled without the existence of a government,” stated the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

Referring to the gathering of Muslims in the Ghadir Khum event, the presence of Imam Hussain (a.s.) with his family in Karbala, the severed heads of martyrs on spears and the captivity of children after the Ashura, he said, “If religion came for us to only communicate with God, what was the reason for these events?”

“According to the Holy Quran, if a Muslim or even a non-Muslim asks you for help and you do not help, you are not a Muslim. We should not remain silent in response to the crimes that the Zionist regime is currently committing in Palestine, and killing oppressed children and defenseless women,” Ayatollah Ramazani clarified.

“Imam Khomeini (r.a.) emphasized that the International Quds Day is the day of Islam. As the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan (Al-Quds Day) approaches, the child-killing Zionist regime continues its crimes, and the world media has remained silent,” said the representative of the people of Gilan in the Assembly of Leadership Experts.

“The late Imam Khomeini (r.a.) did not accept politics in the sense of deceit and cunning. Rather, in his view, he accepted politics as the means of solving problems, paying attention to various issues and resolving the problems of the people, and considered it the duty of all Muslims,” he added, examining Imam Khomeini’s views on politics.

“In the Ziyarat Jami'ah Kabirah, the Infallible Imams (a.s.) are introduced as policy makers,” Ayatollah Ramazani pointed out, “The Imam has the status of a policy maker, and if this power had not existed, the enemies would have destroyed everything, and nothing would have remained of Islam.”

“The Islamic society must feel responsible for Palestine, Myanmar and the other oppressed of the world. If we do not have this sense of responsibility, we are very far from Imam Ali (a.s.),” he said.

“On the 19th night of the holy month of Ramadan, Imam Ali (a.s.) was martyred because of this very sense of responsibility. He was martyred for his justice,” Ayatollah Ramazani added.

“The Islamic Revolution was formed to implement all aspects of religion,” The representative of the people of Gilan in the Assembly of Experts stated, “The enemies seek to take the religion, the AhlulBayt (a.s.) and the Quran from the youth. We must resist this enemy attack with all our might.”

Emphasizing the need to pay attention to the Holy Quran, he said, “While the Quran is being burned in Sweden, some of us have abandoned the Quran ourselves. The Quran will certainly complain about us on the Day of Resurrection.”

“One of the characteristics of the Islamic Revolution is to serve the people. The people are the pillar of the revolution. We hope that the authorities have made practical promises and will solve the people’s problems through operational action,” Ayatollah Ramazani said.

“The Islamic Revolution of Iran must be connected to the Revolution of Imam Mahdi (a.s.). If Islam is hit now, there will remain nothing of Islam and the Reappearance of Imam Mahdi (a.s.) in the next 300 to 400 years. We must know our duty correctly, and revive the sense of responsibility in us to be able to do our duties,” he concluded.
