On the occasion of International Day of Peace, with the participation of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, the International Conference “Global Coalition of NGOs for Peace, Justice, and Convergence of Nations” will be held virtually in Tehran on Saturday and Sunday, September 18 and 19, 2021.
Emphasizing that peace is appropriate and desirable when it is based on justice, Davood Ameri, Secretary-General of the Islamic World Peace Forum, said, “For a variety of reasons, the world today faces challenges in the areas of peace, security, poverty, the environment, and the like, which governments alone cannot fully and successfully address.”
“Through the cooperation of the people, and with the government and the private sector, NGOs in many areas provide the basis for the development and growth of society. In fact, as civic institutions, they are an intermediary between the government and the people, and in this way form an important part of the people’s participation in the development of society,” he added.
“Explaining the scientific, legal, and law foundations of the formation of non-governmental organizations and explaining the role and position of these organizations in achieving peace, justice, and integration of nations is one of the objectives of this conference,” he continued.
“Programs aimed at promoting the discourse of peace and justice in the domestic and international dimensions include explaining the necessities and requirements for considering NGOs in the world, producing conceptual literature on NGOs and developing global peace and justice, and drawing the attention of the elites and media to NGOs in domestically and internationally,” clarified the Secretary-General of the Islamic World Peace Forum on the long-term plans of his institute.
“The conference will be attended by domestic and foreign experts in five sections: NGOs; Theoretical foundations and functions, the role of NGOs in establishing world peace and justice and combating oppression, NGOs and their relationship with powers and governments, public diplomacy and NGOs, and the soft power of non-governmental and societies. The Conference “Global Coalition of NGOs for Peace, Justice, and Convergence of Nations” will be pursued in five phases in 2021 and 2022 to lay the groundwork for this global coalition,” he said.
