“Commemoration Conference for Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain Lakhanvi” to be held

The press conference of “Commemoration Conference for Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain Lakhanvi” was held in Qom.

ABWA Official Website - “The International Conference to Commemorate Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain Lakhanvi (r.a.)” will be held in the autumn 2023 by the Imamate International Foundation, in cooperation with scientific and cultural institutions, including the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

In this regard, the news conference of this Commemoration Conference was held in Qom, in which, along with the announcement of the holding, the poster of the call for articles was also unveiled in the presence of professors and dignitaries of the seminary.

In this press conference, referring to the process of establishing this International Conference, Hojat al-Islam Sobhani stated, “Due to the large number of dignitaries, as well as the theological greatness of the Lucknow School of India, we decided to introduce the elders of the Indian Subcontinent in two scientific conferences and events, one about Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain Lakhanvi, and the other about Sayed Dildar Ali Ghufran-Ma’ab Naseerabadi.”

Presenting a report on the background of the activities of the secretariat of the International Conference, Commemorating Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain Lakhanvi, he mentioned the unveiling of the Conference poster as one of the programs of this press conference and stated, “In the autumn next year, the International Conference for Commemoration of Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain Lakhanvi (r.a.) will be held, with the revival and presentation of the valuable works of that great figure and his family.”

“In the exhibition that will be held on the sidelines of the International Conference commemorating Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain, the views of scientific personalities, including Allameh Sayed Mohsen Amin, the author of the book A’yan al-Shia, will be displayed. In this regard, this virtuous scholar said, “When I read the book of Allamah Mir Hamid Hussain, I feel that apart from Sayed al-Murtaza and Shaykh Tusi, there has not been a person on this level regarding the Wilayat and Imamate,” added the speaker of this press conference.

“The late Allameh, the author of the great book Abaqat al-Anwar, has been the subject of great attention and inspection many times by the dignitaries,” the chairman of the International Conference for Commemoration of Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain Lakhanvi (r.a.) added, “Immediately after his demise, due to the wide fame of that virtuous scholar, some of his works were revived by other scholars and thinkers.”

“Among the programs of this conference will be the presentation of scientific and social figures of India about Mir Hamid Hussain and the book Abaqat al-Anwar,” he said, “In his book Kashf al-Asrar, in a chapter on the hadith of Ghadeer and the Wilayat Event, Imam Khomeini (r.a.) mentions Abaqat al-Anwar as the best book and says, “It is necessary for Shiite scholars in particular, as well as others, not to let this book, which is the greatest proof of the (Shiite denomination), be destroyed, and as some people are trying to remove and desecrate such a precious treasure and expensive gem, we, the Shiite nation, are sleeping”.”

Further in the press conference, referring to the great efforts of the scholars of Qom and Najaf seminaries in reviving the book Aqakat al-Anwar, Hojat al-Islam Sobhani stated, “So far, this large collection has not been collected in a complete and comprehensive manner with accurate editions.”

“Benefiting from the capacities and developing media programs regarding the personality of Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain Lakhanvi (r.a.), is among the other goals and missions of the secretariat of this conference. With holding the International Conference, Commemorating Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain Lakhanvi (r.a.), we intend to make a big event in the introduction of this great figure in the field of research on Imamate,” he said.

“Before the start of the activities related to this International Conference, 8 books from the works of Mir Hamid Hussain’s family have been revived. The secretariat of the International Conference Mir Hamid Hussain, by recognizing the documents and works of Lucknow Great School of India, has introduced a large volume of newly discovered documents for the use of researchers as first-hand research sources,” Hojat al-Islam Sobhani stated.

“Compilation and writing of 50 scientific theses from various seminaries and universities is part of the goals of the International Conference Commemorating Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain. One of the most important achievements of this International Conference is the training of the young generation of researchers equipped with all the tools of theological sciences, hadith, Rijal (a field of study about the narrators of hadith), and Quran research, who will be the followers of the late Allamah Mir Hamid Hussain,” expressed the head of the Imamate International Foundation.

“International Conference Commemorating Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain is not just for honoring and commemorating that scholar. We have a database of countless documents, sources and articles in the field of Imamate and Wilayat, which are categorized according to the subject, methodology and content. This issue, along with providing scientific advice to researchers, is of concern to the conference secretariat,” he said.

“So far, seven pre-conferences have been held in different cities, and according to the planning, pre-conferences will be held in Najaf and India to spread the knowledge and scientific characteristics of Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain,” Hojat al-Islam Sobhani said in the final part of his speech, while stating that in addition to the poster of the conference, two books about the personality of Allameh Mir Hamed Hussain will be unveiled.

Further in the press conference, while pointing to the influence of the Indian subcontinent and its role in Islamic civilization and the Islamic world, Hojat al-Islam Mahdavi Pur, the Representative of the Supreme Leader in India, stated, “The establishment of Shiite governments in parts of the vast lands of India, such as the governments of Abd, Deccan, Adel Shahian and Nizam Shahian, caused the migration of great scholars from the land of Persia to the land of India.”

“The ancestors of Mir Hamid Hussain, the author of Abaqat al-Anwar, migrated to India during the rule of Abdyan and then settled in Lucknow. Throughout history, thousands of scholars and thinkers of jurists, theologians and mystics migrated to India from Islamic lands and were influential in the development of the Indian sub-continent,” he said.

“Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain is one of the distinguished personalities of the Shiite world and one of the most brilliant stars and great thinkers of the Islamic world. He was one of the great researchers and had a noble and spiritual personality who did something similar to a miracle in the way of defending Imamate and Wilayat in a scientific way,” clarified the Representative of the Supreme Leader in India.

Referring to the compilation of the book “Tuhfa al-Ithna Ashariah” in India and a wave of responds in this land, he stated, “Based on the scientific principles, ulama and thinkers of India have written dozens of works in rejection of the book of Abdul Aziz Dehlavi, and the book Abaqat al-Anwar is only one of these books.”

“Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain compiled the book of Abaqat al-Anwar according to moral and good argument and scientific and research method,” Hojat al-Islam Mahdavi Pur noted, “In his book, Allameh has paid attention to research activities for each hadith and verse. His mastery of hadiths, Rijal field of study, and document studies is very important.”

“Access to thousands of sources and handwritten books was one of the special privileges of Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain, who made the best use of those sources,” Representative of the Supreme Leader in India said.

“Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain’s scientific journeys and sacrifices to collect pure books from all over the world are worthy of attention. His library is an invaluable reference for researchers. Mir Hamid Hussain’s family, including his brothers and children, were ulama and jurists who played a significant role in compiling and revitalizing a part of the book of Abaqat al-Anwar,” he expressed.

“Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain Lakhanvi belongs to two lands of Iran and India. We hope that holding a commemoration conference for him will be the beginning of strengthening the scientific interaction of scientific and research groups and universities of Iran and India,” Hojat al-Islam Mahdavi Pur noted.

“Imamate is one of the most important religious and practical issues. Proving the scientific, religious and leadership authority of Imams (a.s.) in history will have a significant impact on Islamic thought. We always appreciate the efforts of Imamate International Foundation and Hojat al-Islam Sobhani and the scientific team of this organization and other collaborating institutions in holding this valuable conference,” added the Representative of the Supreme Leader in India in another part of his speech.

In the end of his speech, stating that Mir Hamid Hussain is still neglected among Indian ulama, Hojat al-Islam Mahdavi Pur noted, “We hope to hold a pre-conference with the presence of ulama from all different states of India. The Association of Indian Researchers has also compiled theses in this regard. We hope to make maximum use of the valuable capacity of talented clerics of India.”

Later in this press conference, Dr. Ahad Faramarz Qaramaleki, the CEO of Astan Quds Razavi Islamic Research Foundation, described the character of Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain as representing the way of religious zeal, effective defense of Imamate and religious teachings, and exhausting targeted research.

“Mir Hamid Hussain interpreted suffering and hardship to create the true research. The civilizational personality of Mir Hamed Hussain, and the eternal book “Abaqat al-Anwar” are guide and beacon for our generation in various fields,” he said.

In presenting a report on the formation of the newly emerging trend of argumentation in the West and the extent of the writing of epistemic books on argumentation in the world, he said, “Abaqat al-Anwar is one of the best books of reasoning, decorated with all the subtleties and implications that prove its intellectual content well.”

Referring to Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain’s mastery in logic, he noted, “Due to Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain’s mastery of Islamic sciences and techniques, logic professors consider him a great logician, and hadith scholars consider him a meticulous hadith scholar. Using the capacity of various sciences and techniques to defend the AhlulBayt (a.s.) is a great lesson and method that Allamah teaches us.”

At the end of this press conference, Hojat al-Islam Mokhtari, head of the Shiite Bibliography Institute, referring to the holding of the International Conference to Commemorate Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain Lakhnavi, described the revival of his works, including the book Abaqat al-Anwar as the most prominent mission and the most important approach of the conference.

“Martyr Ayatollah Dr. Beheshti appointed one of the scholars familiar with India to revive the works of Mir Hamid Hussain, and the report of his efforts will be published in the Special Paper of the Mir Hamid Hussain Conference by the Shiite Bibliographical Institute,” he stated.

“The detailed report of Imam Khomeini’s (r.a.) effort in reviving the book of Abaqat al-Anwar is another part of the Special Paper of the International Conference to Commemorating Allameh Mir Hamid Hussain Lakhnavi. In his 60-year-old life, the late Allameh left behind blessed books and works,” he noted.

In last part of his speech, pointing to some measures to revive the works of Mir Hamid Hussain Lakhanvi’s family, Hojat al-Islam Mokhtari concluded, “Some works of Mir Hamid Hussain’s family will be emended and published after the conference.”  /345/
